Manchester police and the New Hampshire Attorney General accused Adam Montgomery, the father of missing Harmony Montgomery, of killing his daughter at a news conference Monday.
Adam Montgomery has been charged with second-degree murder. He is also charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and witness tampering charges.
Harmony Montgomery was last seen alive in 2019, and authorities were notified of her disappearance in December 2021. The Manchester police have been working to find Harmony until recently when they announced that she was presumed dead. At the time of announcing it was no longer a missing person case, the focus began on finding the person responsible for her death.
Adam Montgomery was transported from Valley Street Jail Monday to Manchester police. At that time, he was arrested and charged with murder and other charges. He will be arraigned Tuesday at Hillsborough County Court in Manchester.
Investigators accused Adam Montgomery of "repeatedly striking Harmony Montgomery in the head with a close fist in Manchester" on Dec. 7, 2019. The evidence and abuse of corpse charges were based on being accused of moving her body to impair an investigation on Dec. 7, 2019, and March 4, 2020. The tampering with witnesses or informants charge was an accusation that Adam Montgomery attempted to cause Kayla Montgomery, his wife, "to testify or inform falsely" between Dec. 7, 2019, and Jan. 4.
