An obsessive compulsive white man from Miami, Florida whose repeated romantic advances to a restaurant co-worker were rejected killed her outside her apartment, according to reports.

Agustin Lucas Mariani, 20, faces second-degree murder charges for the fatal stabbing of Delfina Pan, a 28-year-old from Argentina who had refused to date him, the Miami Herald reported Friday.

According to the Miami Beach police’s report, released Thursday, a neighbor and friend of Pan’s said that on Monday night Mariani “arrived at the victim’s apartment, uninvited, and waited for the victim.”

Delfina Pan moved to the US two years ago and
reportedly wanted to become a fashion designer.

When Pan came home, Mariani requested to speak to her inside her apartment, but she refused — prompting an enraged Mariani to kill her, authorities say.

He “produced a knife and without being provoked began to stab the victim,” according to police. That knife was reportedly missing from the local restaurant where the victim and alleged perpetrator worked.

Mariani then stabbed himself in the chest, giving himself a non-fatal wound, according to the Miami Herald. He was found lying on top of Pan outside her apartment, according to multiple reports.

The two were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where Pan was pronounced dead and Mariani was charged with second-degree murder as he recovered from his self-inflicted wounds, outlets reported.

The pair worked at Lincoln Road restaurant, Kansas Bar & Grill, where Mariani mostly kept to himself, according to Today in 24.

“He worked with us. A super strange boy and nobody knew anything about his life. He went to work and did not say hello to anyone,” Pan’s friend told the outlet.

According to the Miami Herald, police discovered that Pan left work early on Monday, as did Mariani, who was scheduled to work a double shift that day — but he left work in the middle of his shift shortly after Pan.

Mariani didn’t deliver a statement to police, invoking his right to stay silent, according the the Herald.

Pan’s friends told NBC6 that she wanted to become a fashion designer and lived with a childhood friend. According to her LinkedIn page, Pan graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 2016 and subsequently worked as a graphic designer in her home country.

She moved to the United States two years ago, friends said.
