Indiana man kills two, injures one in bloody sword rampage
By Edward Era Barbacena
A sword-wielding white man killed two people and slashed another in a rampage in an Indiana house, cops said.
Jonathan Dischner, 37, used a “long sword” on Sunday night to attack three people in a house in Marion that has nine sleeping units, Marion Police Department said.
Dischner, who lived in one of the house’s apartments, fatally slashed two other men who lived in separate units there — Michael Sandlin, 34, and Dennis Johnson, 63, cops said. The house’s 65-year-old owner had “multiple lacerations” and was hospitalized, cops said in a press release.
“It is unclear what started the altercation as the suspect did not speak with Detectives,” the release said.
Officers had been called to the house on West First Street at about 6:41 p.m. on a report of a man yelling for the police. Dischner was still on the scene when officers arrived and he was arrested on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
Neighbor Wendell Maggard told Fox 59 on the night of the attacks he was surprised by the attack, saying “you don’t have things like this happen all the time.
