Indiana man kills two, injures one in bloody sword rampage

A sword-wielding white man killed two people and slashed another in a rampage in an Indiana house, cops said.

Jonathan Dischner, 37, used a “long sword” on Sunday night to attack three people in a house in Marion that has nine sleeping units, Marion Police Department said.

Dischner, who lived in one of the house’s apartments, fatally slashed two other men who lived in separate units there — Michael Sandlin, 34, and Dennis Johnson, 63, cops said. The house’s 65-year-old owner had “multiple lacerations” and was hospitalized, cops said in a press release.

“It is unclear what started the altercation as the suspect did not speak with Detectives,” the release said.

Officers had been called to the house on West First Street at about 6:41 p.m. on a report of a man yelling for the police. Dischner was still on the scene when officers arrived and he was arrested on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Neighbor Wendell Maggard told Fox 59 on the night of the attacks he was surprised by the attack, saying “you don’t have things like this happen all the time.

“The house across the street, I didn’t know them personally, they didn’t cause any ruckus, they didn’t bother no one,” he said. “It’s just crazy to know that it just happened across the street, within your view.”

Man Charged With Killing Asian Woman and Burying Her in His Backyard

White Man Charged With Killing Asian Woman and Burying Her in His Backyard

Investigators have begun unraveling a gruesome murder in a Milpitas mobile home park after the body of missing 59-year-old Tuyet Phan was discovered buried in a makeshift backyard grave and her neighbor was charged with the stunning murder.

The series of events began when police got a call from a concerned relative of Phan who lived in No. 18 at the Mobilodge of Milpitas, reports KPIX5.

“She was concerned that she had not heard from the victim in several days,” stated lt. Tyler Jamison.

“She was concerned that she had not heard from the victim in several days,” stated lt. Tyler Jamison.

Officers were dispatched, knocked on the door, but got no answer.

According to KPIX5, officers returned to the neighborhood the next day. They knocked on the doors of multiple neighbors including across the street where Micha Dovlet lived.

While speaking with 34-year-old Dovlet, officers noticed he had scratches on his arm. He agreed to go to the police station for questioning.

Police then obtained a search warrant for Dovlet’s home where they found bloody sheets in the trash can as well as traces of blood in his truck and bathroom. Dovlet has since been charged with murder, reports KPIX5.

On Tuesday, detectives returned with a cadaver dog that altered them to a pile of fresh dirt in Dovlet’s backyard. They then found Phan’s body. Dovlet confessed and told detectives the murder happened early Saturday morning.

Detectives are still working on a motive.

Neighbors at Mobilodge were stunned. Mobilodge is a third of a mile from the Milpitas Police Department and neighbors told KPIX5 they often leave their doors unlocked.

“I was just dumbfounded. I mean you see that on TV. You see that on the crime scene things, but not here. This was unreal,” said neighbor Phyllis Caswell.

That timeline adds up for neighbors Wilma and Valfin Guarin. They heard screaming at 4 a.m. but assumed it was noise from nearby Milpitas Boulevard.

“We don’t know where the voice is coming from because there is no “help” – just screaming and then suddenly crying,” Wilma stated to KPIX5.

Marcos still leads the survey

Marcos still leads the survey

The former senator still takes on a very big lead despite of the overwhelming negative publicity thrown against him by the supporters of his rivals

By Edward Era Barbacena

FORMER Philippine senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. continued his run in surveys as the leading presidential candidate.

A recent poll by Pulso ng Pilipinas projects the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer winning the May elections by about 27 million votes.

The Pulso ng Pilipinas poll is a compilation and summation of all Kalye Survey results produced by information and statistical data provider Splat Communications, working jointly with consulting firm Simplified Strategic Solutions.

Splat said the January 1 to 31 survey assumes a voter turnout of 82 percent or 54.94 million voters.

Marcos will get 33,128,820 votes, the group forecast.

The survey had 113,548 respondents, 12.67 percent of which were undecided.

"With a little over three months left before the elections, please be observant and extra vigilant. Expect all the worst imaginable drama, intrigues, downright lies, smear campaigns, and threats against the frontrunner BBM," Splat said.

"All of his opponents will become desperate as election day draws near. Now the disparity is as clear as day. This lead is insurmountable at this stage," it added.

This was the similar trend seen in the past two presidential elections.

In 2016, then Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte had 15,9700,018 votes, giving him a 6,269,636 cushion over Manuel "Mar" Roxas 2nd who garnered 9,700,382 votes.

In 2010, Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino 3rd won over Joseph Estrada by 5,720,841 votes.

Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo will be a distant second with 5,637,638 votes.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, placed third with 4,603,972 votes, followed by Senators Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao (3,483,196) and Panfilo "Ping" Lacson (3,395,476).

Percentage-wise, Marcos will get 60.30 percent of the vote, Robredo 9.77 percent, Domagoso 8.38 percent, Pacquiao 6.34 percent and Lacson, 2.54 percent.

Iowa man sentenced to life in prison after killing his friend in a fight over mayonnaise

Kristofer Erlbacher murdered his friend Caleb Solberg over an argument about mayo.

By Edward Era Barbacena

An Iowa man was sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of a friend he repeatedly ran over with a pickup truck after a fight about mayonnaise.

Kristofer Erlbacher, now 29, used his truck to ram Caleb Solberg, 30, outside a café in the small town of Pisgah on Dec. 17, 2020, the Des Moines Register reported. Erlbacher initially drove away, then came back and ran over Solberg two more times, according to the Register.

The two had been out drinking at a bar with another person earlier in the night in nearby Moorhead, but things took a turn when Erlbacher spread mayo on Solberg’s food, which riled Solberg and sparked a bar fight, the Woodbine Twiner-Herald reported.

A furious Erlbacher called Solberg’s half-brother, Craig Pryor, on the way to the café and threatened to set Solberg’s house on fire and shoot him, the newspaper said. Pryor later came to Dave’s Old Home in Pisgah, where another confrontation was brewing.

Erlbacher eventually rammed his truck into Pryor’s, then rammed Solberg.

“Erlbacher’s first blow to Solberg did not kill him. He can be heard screaming for his brother, Craig Pryor,” District Judge Greg Steensland wrote in the verdict, according to the Twiner-Herald.

“Rather than just leave, Erlbacher went down the street, turned around, and came back to strike Solberg a second time … To be sure he had completed the job, Erlbacher drove his truck up and over Solberg one last time.”

Erlbacher then drove off, but his truck broke down a short while later. On the phone, he told Pryor that he had killed Solberg, according to the verdict.

Erlbacher was convicted after a bench trial in December last year and sentenced Monday.

CNN President Jeff Zucker resigns over romantic relationship with colleague Allison Gollust

CNN President Jeff Zucker resigns over romantic relationship with colleague Allison Gollust

By Edward Era Barbacena

Jeff Zucker has resigned from his post as head of CNN for failing to disclose a relationship with a top executive. The relationship came to light during the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at CNN. Zucker initially stood by Cuomo but later dismissed him after he faced more misconduct allegations.

Zucker’s resignation comes a year after CNN reported that he was close to an exit. In 2014, Jeff told New York Magazine that his job at CNN would likely be his last in television. He talked of aspirations to run a football team, be the New York Times’s sports editor, or run for political office.

Jeff Zucker and his ex-wife Caryn Zucker

Jeff split with his ex-wife Caryn after ten years of turmoil

Jeff Zucker and his ex-wife Caryn met when they were working at NBC. He was the executive producer of The Today Show, and she was a supervisor on Saturday Night Live.

The couple wed in 1996 at the Pierre Hotel. The pair welcomed three sons and one daughter during their over two-decade union.

In January 2018, the pair split. They sent a statement to Page Six expressing their intention to remain committed to their kids as friends. The statement read:

“Together, we have made the difficult decision to separate, but do so as friends committed to our kids. They remain our sole focus.”

A source speaking to the publication stated that Jeff’s relationship with Caryn had been on edge for a decade. The fact that they enjoyed different things broadened the gap between the pair. The source said:

“It can’t be easy being married to Jeff — he is a workaholic, and is obsessed with news, and obsessed with being the best. Caryn is much more laid back and social, spends a lot of time with their kids and enjoys being part of the Upper East Side social circuit.”

Allison Gollust

Zucker and his longtime friend Allison Gollust grew closer during the lockdown

Jeff didn’t mention the executive’s name in his resignation statement, but her identity didn’t remain secret for long. CNN anchor Brian Stelter reported that the lady involved was Allison Gollust, chief marketing officer of CNN worldwide.

Zucker and Allison started working together at NBC in the late 90s. After Jeff moved to CNN, she was one of his first hires. Jeff’s resignation memo read:

“I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong. As a result, I am resigning today.”

Allison released a statement saying that she would remain at CNN. She stated that the pair’s relationship turned romantic during the lockdown. Gollust said:

“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years. Recently, our relationship changed during COVID. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do every day.”

White man fatally shot  2 campus officers  at Bridgewater College in Virginia

Two campus officers were shot and killed at Bridgewater College in Virginia on Tuesday, a stunning act of violence at a school that was ranked last year as the safest in the state.

The officers, identified as a "dynamic duo" known across the campus of the small liberal arts college, were fatally shot during what Virginia State Police called a "brief interaction" with the suspect.

"This is a sad and dark day for Bridgewater College," David Bushman, the school's president, wrote in a statement to the campus community.

Campus officers at Bridgewater responded to a call of a suspicious male individual around 1:20 p.m., authorities said at a press conference Tuesday evening. The suspect fled campus on foot after shooting both officers and was captured by police by 2 p.m.

Police identified the suspect as Alexander Wyatt Campbell, 27. He has been charged with two felony counts of capital murder, one felony count of first-degree murder, and one felony count of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime, authorities said.

Police said they recovered multiple firearms associated with Campbell on- and off-campus.

Authorities declined to comment on the suspect's relationship with Bridgewater College, but said he was initially flagged as suspicious because he "was in a location where he shouldn't have been" on campus. His last known address was in Ashland, Virginia, about a two-hour drive from the school, police said.

Campbell is being held without bond at Rockingham County Jail. He suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, but police are unsure if an officer shot him or if it was self-inflicted.

Transgender California inmate sentenced to juvenile detention after molesting girl could only face 6 months

Transgender California inmate sentenced to juvenile detention after molesting girl could only face 6 months

Tubbs, 26, recently pleaded guilty to molesting the girl in a women's bathroom eight years ago when Tubbs was two weeks away from turning 18

By Edward Era Barbacena

A Los Angeles County judge on Jan. 27 ordered Hannah Tubbs, a male-to-female transgender Californian, to serve two years in a juvenile detention facility after Tubbs pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in 2014 — but it's possible Tubbs could only face six months.

Tubbs, 26, recently pleaded guilty to molesting the girl in a women's bathroom eight years ago when Tubbs was two weeks away from turning 18. At the time of the crime, Tubbs identified as male and went by James. Tubbs did not identify as female until being taken into custody, according to prosecutors.

"Hannah Tubbs is currently housed in county jail. It is my understanding that she will soon be transferred to Sylmar Juvenile Hall," Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami, assigned to the Complex Child Abuse Unit, told Fox News Digital

Prosecutors say Tubbs walked into the bathroom of a Denny’s in 2014 and grabbed the 10-year-old by the throat, locked her in a stall, and put a hand down the girl’s pants. Tubbs stopped when another person walked into the restroom and fled, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Because Tubbs began identifying as female after being taken into custody, and L.A. District Attorney George Gascon refused to try Tubbs as an adult, the assailant was sentenced to two years in a Secure Youth Treatment Facility (SYTF), though Tubbs would be separated from other juvenile inmates at the facility.

In L.A. County, juvenile facilities can house both females and males, but in separate areas, because there are no male or female SYTF facilities in L.A. County. Therefore, Tubbs will be housed with the females in isolation.

Two years is the maximum sentence for any juvenile in the new SYTF program over the age of 25, according to Deputy District Attorney Shea Sanna.

Additionally, L.A. courts must hold quarterly progress reviews for juvenile wards. After the first two reviews, a judge can determine whether a ward is eligible to be released or serve a reduced sentence based on good behavior.

Sanna confirmed to Fox News that Tubbs could be eligible for a release or a sentencing reduction after his second quarterly progress review if the court makes such a determination.

"So after six months in custody, Tubbs would be eligible for a reduction in time or release" on good behavior, he explained.

While Sanna finds it "highly unlikely" that an early release would happen in Tubbs' case, "it is possible" because the point of the new juvenile detention program is rehabilitation and the best interest of minor wards.

Hatami noted that Tubbs' defense "has also indicated that they will file a motion to have Tubbs removed from juvenile ‘isolation’ because it is a violation of the Constitution. However, that motion has not been filed yet."

He also explained that Gov. Gavin Newsom "placed the full responsibility of housing juveniles who commit violent crimes onto the individual counties" in California about a year ago.

"This was done with limited guidance and no concerns for public safety," Hatami said. "It was another ‘progressive policy’ termed a ‘reform.’ Currently, there [are] no male or female SYTF facilities in the county of Los Angeles at all. Even the locations for these facilities have not been finalized. So, as of right now, Tubbs will eventually be housed at Sylmar Juvenile Hall" after some time in county jail, Hatami said.

The case highlights issues "with having a blanket policy against transferring juveniles who commit violent crimes to adult court," he explained.

"Under George Gascon’s ‘reforms,’ a 26-year-old admitted child molester is being housed with juveniles," Hatami said. "She may be released early, back into the community, with no sex registration.  Only innocent victims and the public suffer because of George Gascón’s so-called ‘progress.’"
