Hong Kong Protests in the West
Hundreds of people black clad in shirts that read " Stand with Hong Kong " chanted common Hong Kong's freedom slogans in support of the protesters from the Barclays center during the Nets' preseason showdown against the Toronto Raptors the current Champions.
Brooklyn, New York - Supporters of the Hong Kong Pro-Democracy protests wearing " Stand with Hong Kong " swarmed the NBA game on Friday night of October 18 to protest the league and express support for the citizens of Hong Kong who are struggling to fight to preserve the democracy.
Producer and activist Andrew Duncan bought around 300 tickets for protesters to attend the Brooklyn Nets game against the Toronto Raptors. People in white clad that read " Free Tibet " were also seen in the arena opposite of the Hong Kong supporters in black clad.
Though there was an overwhelming jeerings from the audiences, it was considered as a peaceful protests and no one was kicked out unlike what happened in Philadelphia and Washington where Hong Kong protests supportersw escorted out of the arenas.
The issue between the NBA and China in relation to the Hong Kong protests ignited when David Morey recieved backlashes from offended Chinese NBA fans after posting " Fight for freedom. Stand with Hong Kong " on his Twitter account which was backed by NBA organizer Adam Silver.

Things got escalated when James LeBron accused Morey of being uneducated and irresponsible for making such post on social media that triggered emotional setback from the Chinese fans which was denounced by the pro-democrats citizens Hong Kong and accusing LeBron of being a pro-communist.
The NBA is now facing alot of criticism over it's handling of a now-deleted tweet from the Houston Rockets' general manager David Morey who expressed solidarity with Pro-Democracy protesters of Hong Kong. Indeed NBA is now caught between the rift of Pro-Democracy citizens of Hong Kong and the infuriated Chinese government and basketball fans.
