Capitol police officer who was severely beaten by Trump supporters during January 6 insurrection, passes away

Washington - Brian Sicknick a US Capitol police officer who engaged against the Trump supporters on January 6 when they infiltrated the US State Capitol, passes away on Thursday evening.

Sicknick was severely beaten by Trump supporters and was struck on the head with fire extinguisher while performing his duty. He was one of the five individuals who died in the violence perpetuated by Trump acolytes.

Sicknick was injured while physically engaging against the furious Trump supporters and collapsed after returning to his division.

"He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries." Capital police statement said.

Prosecutors in the US attorney's office plan to open a federal murder investigation into the Sicknick's death.  A law official told the media.


The world witnessed the horrific scene of 
insolent insurrection committed by the legion
of trump supporters on January 6.


Sicknick was originally from South River, New Jersey and the youngest of the three sons, according to the statement issued by his brother Sicknick on behalf of his grieving family.

" Brian is a hero and that is what people would like to remember."  Ken Sicknick said

Sicknick family is very proud of his service to the country and he died while performing his sworn duty.

Sicknick wanted to be a police officer in all of his entire life and joined the New Jersey National guard in his pursuit of his goal.

According to the statement released by the New Jersey governor Phil Murphy's Office, Sicknick was a staff sargent of the New Jersey National guard

He served as a right-wing member and a leader of the 108th security force squadron, 108th Wing, at a joint base Mcguire-Dix-Lakehurst. Murphy said.

Sicknick's services included two deployments -- one was a part of the Southern Watch and the other was a part of Enduring Operation Freedom - Murphy added.

" Officer Sicknick gave his life protecting the  United States Capitol, and by extension, our very own democracy from violent insurrection." Murphy concluded.


US Speaker Nancy Pelosi orders the US flag to half-staff at the Capitol to honor the death of Brian Sicknick.

" The sacrifice of Sicknick reminds us of our obligation to those we serve: to protect our country from all threats foreign and domestic. May it be a comfort to Officer Sicknick's family so that many mourn with and pray with them at this sad time." Pelosi said in a statement
