American man of Virginia charged with first-degree murder after stabbing his own mother to death

The Patrick County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been charged with murder after his mom was found stabbed to death on Aug. 23.
Around 3 p.m., deputies were notified that a woman had possibly been stabbed to death in the 300 block of Staples Avenue. On the scene, 67-year-old Susan Ackermann Tabor was found dead inside the home.
During the investigation, Tabor’s son, 41-year-old Andrew Russell Tabor, was identified as a suspect. Deputies also learned that the pair lived in the home together.
Sheriff Smith with the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office said around 3 p.m., deputies were notified that Tabor had arrived at the Stuart Elementary School. As a result, safety measures were taken, and the school resource officer confronted Tabor outside the school.
Sheriff Smith says Tabor was unarmed when he arrived on school property.
According to the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office and Commonwealth’s Attorney, Tabor was charged with First Degree Murder.
Susan Tabor’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy.
