A 24-year-old Delhi woman called her boyfriend after killing his 11-year-old son and spitefully remarked, “I took away the most precious thing from you...”. Chilling details of the murder - she strangled the boy and hid his body in a box bed - and CCTV clips have emerged linked to the crime of passion.
Pooja Kumari was arrested on Tuesday, five days after the murder.
Pooja had been living with Jitendra since 2019. They reportedly got married in an Arya Samaj temple on October 17 that year but couldn't register their marriage since Jitender hadn’t divorced his wife, police said.
The two allegedly had frequent quarrels over this matter. Jitendra eventually moved out of their rented house in December last year and returned to his wife and son.
Pooja was furious and held his 11-year-old son responsible for leaving her, and his reluctance to file for divorce, police said.
After a murder case was registered, the police analysed more than 300 CCTV footages near the crime scene. The CCTV footage of a camera outside the boy’s house led to the identification of the accused.
The purported video showed a woman, with her face covered with a blue scarf, entering the house. The woman, attired in jeans and top, is seen carrying a handbag.
In another video, the woman was seen walking while trying to cover her face with a scarf.
Further analysis of CCTV footage led the investigators to confirm that the last person to visit the 11-year-old boy’s house in Inderpuri was Pooja.
