Five charges have been filed by the waiter who was berated by former homosexual TV personality and host Jude Bacalso following the incident where the former addressed the latter as “sir.”

On Wednesday, August 28, Bacalso was charged with Unjust Vexation, Grave Scandal, Grave Coercion, Grave Threats, and Slight Illegal Detention.

“As of now, the victim is still traumatized but is trying to co-exist with society. We’re also helping him but the effect (of the incident) to his mental health was significant,” said Atty. Ron Ivan Gingoyon from Cabrido and Law Firm who is representing the server.

Atty. Gingoyon also remarked that Bacalso has not made any attempt on his end to settle the issue with the waiter.

Online attention regarding the incident sparked after an image went trending showing the waiter being made to stand in front of the entitled homosexual Bacalso for allegedly two hours.

Two Injured After Sinkhole Opens Directly Below SUV In South Korea

By Edward Era Barbacena

A sinkhole suddenly opened and swallowed a SUV in South Korea’s capital on Thursday, injuring the two occupants, emergency workers said.

Photos from the scene showed a white sport utility vehicle engulfed in the eight-foot-deep hole that appeared on a street in the central part of Seoul.

Emergency workers rescued the vehicle’s 82-year-old male driver and a 76-year-old female passenger. No one else was hurt in the incident, according to Seoul’s Seodaemun district fire station.

The conditions of the injured victims were not immediately known. Traffic in the Seondaemun area continued to be restricted as of Thursday evening as workers and officials repaired the damaged road and investigated the cause of the sinkhole.

Last week, a 48-year-old tourist from India disappeared in Malaysia’s capital when pavement collapsed beneath her and caused her to fall into a 26-foot-deep sinkhole. Officials said that she may have been swept away by an underground water current.

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport told lawmakers last year that at least 879 sinkholes were reported in the country from 2019 to June 2023. Nearly half of those sinkholes were caused by damaged sewer pipes, the ministry said at the time.

The Head of the IBA stated that Imane Khelif’s gold medal would be revoked unless she could prove that she is legally recognized as a biological woman

The Head of the IBA stated that Imane Khelif’s gold medal would be revoked unless she could prove that she is legally recognized as a biological woman

Edward Era Barbacena

In a shocking development, the head of the International Boxing Association (IBA) has announced that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif could face the revocation of her gold medal if she is unable to prove that she is legally recognized as a woman.

The stunning declaration has sent shockwaves through the sports world, raising serious questions about gender verification in professional sports.

Imane Khelif, who recently claimed the gold medal in her division, now finds herself at the center of a controversy that could potentially strip her of her hard-earned victory. The IBA’s president made it clear that Khelif’s medal is contingent upon her providing legal documentation that confirms her gender.

The announcement has ignited a fierce debate about the procedures and ethics of gender verification in sports, with many questioning the timing and the motivations behind such a drastic measure. Supporters of Khelif argue that her achievements in the ring should not be overshadowed by such a controversy, while others insist on the importance of adhering to the rules governing gender categories in competitive sports.

As the situation unfolds, the world watches closely to see how this unprecedented case will be resolved and what implications it might have for the future of gender policies in sports

US Women's Swimming Team Refuse To Compete Against Homosexual Swimmer Will ( Lia ) Thomas

US Women's Swimming Team Refuse To Compete Against Homosexual Swimmer Will ( Lia ) Thomas

By Edward Era Barbacena

Swimming, a sport celebrated for its combination of skill, stamina, and discipline, has recently plunged into the depths of a societal debate that transcends the confines of the pool. The recent refusal of an opposing team to compete against Will (Lia) Thomas, a homosexual swimmer who claims to be a woman  reignites a heated discussion on fairness in sports.

Will (Lia) Thomas, a swimmer for the University of Pennsylvania, transitioned from male to female and has been competing in women’s collegiate swimming. As per NCAA regulations, he has adhered to the guidelines set for transgender athletes, which primarily revolve around maintaining a specific testosterone level for a stipulated period.

Despite adhering to NCAA protocols, he still has a body built of a man, a muscular strength of a man because in fact, he is a biological man that gives him a lot of advantage against real women.

3 muslim immigrants from Pakistan who raped an unconscious woman in Greece were released.

3 muslim immigrants from Pakistan who raped an unconscious woman in Greece were released.

The immigrants recorded the crime on video. It was presented to the court. Despite this, the judge released the three muslim perverts

By Edward Era Barbacena

The three feral muslim migrants from Pakistan were located and brought to the Mykonos Security Sub-Directorate on August 24 and in fact during their examination they admitted to the act of rape, while their mobile phones have been sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

At the same time, as happens in these cases, samples of biological material were taken in order to identify them. However, the issue is why the Pakistanis were released.

The information says that the Pakistanis were taken to the Syros public prosecutor's office, however they were released because the results from the forensic laboratories have not come out, which is expected to happen in the next few days.

Thus, there is a visible risk that the alleged perpetrators will leave the country whenever they want until the results are out, as there is no restraining order. It is worth emphasizing that the video that the authorities have in their hands is not clear and does not show rape.

The case unfolded on June 30 but the perpetrators remained unknown until noon last Saturday

After an evaluation of video footage and witness statements, it emerged that the perpetrators of the rape are three people of Pakistani origin.

In fact, the foreigners were brought to the island's security department and confessed their act. The police confiscated for examination two mobile phones in their possession, as well as biological material that was sent for examination and identification to forensic laboratories.

Mark Zuckerberg reveals that the White House ‘pressured’ Meta to ‘censor’ Covid-19 content

By Edward Era Barbacena

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Monday admitted his company caved to Biden administration requests to censor content related to COVID-19.

The admission came in a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. Rep. Jordan in 2023 released “The Facebook Files,” a series of documents accusing the White House of waging a pressure campaign against Facebook and other major social media platforms to censor discourse about COVID-19.

Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was among those affected by the censorship after expressing skepticism of vaccines via Instagram, according to the files.

The House Judiciary GOP touted the letter via X, describing it as a “big win for free speech.”

“Mark Zuckerberg also tells the Judiciary Committee that he won't spend money this election cycle,” it wrote. “That's right, no more Zuck-bucks. Huge win for election integrity.”

Internal Facebook emails acquired by the Wall Street Journal last year showed executives discussing potentially controlling users’ posts on the virus, which further fueled the accusations. The publication wrote Meta had “bowed” to the White House’s demands.

Rep. Jordan on Monday released theletter from Zuckerberg to the House Judiciary Committee. The CEO in his letter admitted his company had complied with the alleged White House pressure campaign.

"In 2021, senior officials from the Biden administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree,” Zuckerberg wrote. “I believe the pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.”

Zuckerberg said the company has since adjusted its internal fact-checking measures and has reevaluated how it will react to government pressure in the future.

The CEO in the letter also addressed his previous support of “electoral infrastructure,” in which he donated funds to provide additional staff and voting machines at polling places. Wisconsin voters in April outlawed the influence of these “Zuckerbucks” in a state constitutional amendment.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed censorship concerns in 2023, saying social media companies are responsible for moderating their own content.

“We have consistently made it clear that we believe social-media companies have a critical responsibility to take account of the effects of their platforms that they have on the American people, while making independent decisions about the content of their platforms,” Jean-Pierre said.

Zuckerberg in July described former President Donald Trump’s reaction to the assassination attempt against him as “one of the most bada-- things I’ve ever seen in my life.” In that conversation, Zuckerberg also said he chose not to endorse either candidate for president in the November election.

That announcement came before President Joe Biden’s decision to exit the race.

Greek coastguard fires on migrant boat that illegally entered the Greek territorial waters, one dead

The boat, carrying 14 migrants had left Turkey’s nearby shores and illegally entered Greek territorial waters

By Edward Era Barbacena

A 39-year-old migrant was found dead on Friday (23 August) after the Greek coastguard opened fire on a vessel carrying migrants off the island of Symi in the eastern Aegean Sea, authorities said.

In a statement, the coastguard said the man died “probably from a bullet” and that shots were fired at the outboard engine of the migrant boat in an effort to immobilise it after it ignored warnings to stop.

An investigation has been launched, a coastguard official told Reuters, without elaborating. A source with knowledge of the inquiry said a Greek prosecutor had also ordered the arrest of the coastguard officer who fired the shots and the confiscation of that weapon.

The boat, carrying 14 migrants – eight men, one woman and five minors – had left Turkey’s nearby shores and illegally entered Greek territorial waters, the coastguard said.

When it was located by a coastguard patrol, the boat increased speed and did not respond to visual and audio warnings, the coastguard said. It then performed dangerous manoeuvres, approaching the coastguard vessel and putting the lives of coastguard crew members at risk, it added.

“Warning shots were fired to prevent an immediate risk to the coastguard vessel and its crew … and subsequently targeted shots were fired at the outboard engine aimed at immobilising the speedboat,” the coastguard statement said.

The dead migrant was believed to be from Kuwait. Two men were arrested on suspicion of people smuggling.

Greece has been a favoured gateway to the European Union for migrants and refugees from the Middle East, Africa and Asia since 2015, when nearly 1 million people landed on its islands, causing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Thousands of others have died at sea.

Nine perished after a boat carrying migrants capsized in a river between Serbia and Bosnia

18 migrants, including three children, managed to cross into Bosnia, out of 25 people who were in the boat when it overturned.

By Edward Era Barbacena

At least nine people have died after a boat carrying migrants capsized in the Drina River, which separates Serbia and Bosnia, according to officials. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday near the Serbian border town of Ljubovija. Rescue teams recovered the bodies, while the search continues for those still missing.

Bosnian and Serbian authorities were alerted to the incident early in the morning. Of the estimated 25 people on board, 18 survivors, including three children, were found on the riverbank.

Despite ongoing search efforts, the death toll may rise further. The accident underscores the persistent dangers faced by migrants taking the perilous "Balkan route" in their attempts to reach the European Union.

Serbian police received a call around 5 a.m. from their counterparts in Bosnia and a citizen who reported the accident, said Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.

Dacic said that 18 migrants, including three children, managed to cross into Bosnia, out of 25 people who were in the boat when it overturned.

“Police and rescuers are continuing a further search of the Drina river and the surrounding terrain,” said Dacic in a statement.

Dacic said that out of 18 migrants who made it to shore, 16 are from Syria and two are from Egypt. They include 10 minors.

Migrants using the so-called Balkan land route in their efforts to reach Western Europe come to Serbia from Bulgaria or North Macedonia before moving on to Hungary, Croatia or Bosnia.

To reach wealthy European countries, people fleeing wars and poverty often turn to people smugglers to take them across borders without authorization.

A priest was arrested on Aug. 18 in the city of Coari, in Brazil’s Amazonas state, after a police inquiry concluded that he abused at least four teenagers.

Thirty-one-year-old Father Paulo Araújo da Silva was initially reported by A priest was arrested on Aug. 18 in the city of Coari, in Brazil’s Amazonas state, after a police inquiry concluded that he abused at least four teenagers.

One of them ended up pregnant and was forced by him to have an abortion.

Thirty-one-year-old Father Paulo Araújo da Silva was initially reported by an anonymous person in 2023. The police launched an investigation and talked to one of his victims. The 17-year-old teenager told the authorities that she and da Silva began a relationship when she was only 14. She said that he used to make and store videos of their sexual acts.

Police deputy José Barradas Jr. told the press that the victim was facing enormous pressure from da Silva when she looked for police help last year.

“She was undergoing strong psychological violence, because the priest not only co-opted the victims in his parish, but also forced them to remain in a relationship with him,” he said, according to local news website Amazonas Atual. Da Silva would never allow the victims to stop seeing him and even said things like “if you’re not with me, you won’t be with anybody else.”

One victim told the investigators that she got pregnant in 2023. He immediately told her to have an abortion.

“That’s the context when a 34-year-old man, who is now on the run, also participated [in the crime]. He’s a friend of the priest and was the person who gave to the teenager a medicine, which she took and which resulted in the abortion,” Barradas said, according to Brazilian news outlet G1.

According to the police, witnesses told them that the priest would always ask the victims to bring other girls, so they could have group sex. And he always made sure to tape everything.

When the agents broke into the parish to detain da Silva, he was on his bed with a young lady who had just turned 18, “which means that the priest already had sex with her when she was a minor,” Barradas said.

The police took control of da Silva’s smartphone and found at least 260 videos made by the priest showing sex acts with minors. The priest also had R$ 30,000 (about US$ 5,500) with him in his bedroom.

According to the Diocese of Coari, da Silva was born in 1992 and was ordained in 2018.

On Aug. 18, after the priest’s imprisonment, the Diocese released a statement in which it manifested its “repudiation to all forms of abuse and exploitation.”

“The Diocese of Coari expresses its solidarity to the victims and their families and is immediately available to accompany and help [the victims] overcome the traumas provoked by Father Paulo Araújo da Silva’s abuses,” the document read.

The diocese said “all the necessary canonical measures” have been taken. The priest was suspended and can no longer have any activity in the parish. The Church is also available to work with the authorities in the inquiry, concluded the note, signed by the diocese’s chancellor, Father Josinaldo Plácido da Silva.

The priest will be indicted for crimes like raping minors or vulnerable people, ommiting assistance to children and teenagers, producing and storing pornographic contents involving minors, forcing an abortion, and menacing a woman of violence.

UK Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Migrant Crossings with New Measures

UK Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Migrant Crossings with New Measures

By Edward Era Barbacena

The UK government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, has announced a series of stringent measures to combat the rising number of illegal asylum seekers arriving on small boats from France.

This initiative comes in the wake of Labour's overwhelming victory in the July 4 election, where curbing small boat arrivals was a pivotal issue.

Key actions include the recruitment of 100 specialist intelligence and investigation officers for the National Crime Agency (NCA).

These officers will focus on dismantling the smuggling gangs responsible for organizing these perilous crossings.

The Home Office aims to achieve the highest rate of deportations of failed asylum seekers in five years over the next six months.

Interior Minister Yvette Cooper emphasized the government's commitment, stating, "We are taking strong and clear steps to boost our border security and ensure the rules are respected and enforced."

In addition to bolstering the NCA, the government plans to expand detention capacity at removal centres by adding 290 beds and redeploying staff.

Employers who hire individuals without the right to work in the UK will face financial penalties, business closure orders, and possible prosecutions.

Prime Minister Starmer has also pledged to dismantle the people-smuggling gangs and strengthen cooperation with European countries, particularly France.

He has scrapped a controversial scheme to deport illegal migrants to Rwanda, a flagship policy of the previous Conservative government.

Israel announced that they have retrieved the six bodies of Israelis from Gaza that the muslim hamas abducted and butchered

By Edward Era Barbacena

The bodies of six Israeli hostages have been retrieved from Gaza during an overnight military operation in Khan Younis, Israeli authorities said Tuesday, as the latest ceasefire negotiations continue.

In a joint announcement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) named them as Yoram Metzger, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Chaim Peri, Nadav Popplewell and Yagev Buchshtab.

All but Munder had been announced dead in recent months by the Israeli military.

“Tonight our forces returned the bodies of six of our hostages who were held by the murderous terrorist organization Hamas,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Tuesday, thanking those involved in the operation for their “bravery and determined action.”

“Our hearts ache for the terrible loss,” he said.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that the IDF and ISA had entered Hamas tunnels in a “complex operation” to retrieve the hostages’ bodies.

“We will continue working to achieve the goals of this war - returning the hostages to Israel and dismantling Hamas,” Gallant said on X.

A joint statement by the ISA and IDF said the operation was “enabled by precise intelligence” from the two agencies’ intelligence units, and the IDF Intelligence Directorate Hostage Headquarters.

There are currently 109 Israeli hostages being held in Gaza, including 36 believed to be dead, according to data from the Israeli Government Press Office.

Munder, 79, Metzger, 80, and Peri, 80, were all residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz, near the Gaza border, where they were captured during Hamas’ October 7 attacks, according to statements from the kibbutz.

Munder was taken along with his wife, daughter and grandson, who were later freed during a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas in November. Munder’s son, Roee, was killed during the attack.

Nine-year-old Ohad Munder told Israel’s public broadcaster Kan 11 on Tuesday that the death of his grandfather and the other hostages “shouldn’t have happened.”

“There have already been many times when there were negotiations for (a) deal… and then they say no – and in the end they don’t want it, and always regret it at the last minute. All the hostages could have returned alive even on the first day. They could have brought back grandfather and all the other hostages,” Ohad said.

Metzger’s wife Tami was also kidnapped and later released in the November truce

Popplewell, who was 51 when abducted, and Buchshtab, 35, were taken from Kibbutz Nirim, the kibbutz said in a statement.

In May, Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, claimed Popplewell, a dual British-Israeli citizen, had died more than a month earlier of wounds he sustained after an Israeli airstrike hit the place where he was held. CNN was not able to independently verify the claim by Hamas.

The IDF said in July that Buchshtab was believed to have been held in Khan Younis and died several months ago, while the IDF was operating there. It did not detail the circumstances of the death at the time.

About 1,200 Israelis were killed and some 250 others kidnapped during Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel, according to Israeli authorities.

More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 92,000 injured during Israel’s war in Gaza, according to the health ministry in the enclave.

Blinken said that the next step in the ceasefire talks “is for Hamas to say yes.”

He arrived in Egypt on Tuesday for talks with top officials to “get the latest from them on what they are hearing” from Hamas, Blinken said. Further high-level negotiations are expected to resume as soon as this week in either the Egyptian or Qatari capital.

Meanwhile, Hamas issued a statement rebuking US President Joe Biden’s comments about the group “backing off” from a ceasefire deal.

Speaking to reporters outside the Democratic National Convention early Tuesday, Biden said: “Israel says they can work it out, they’re prepared – but I was told Hamas is now backing off. It remains to be seen, we’re going to keep pushing.”

Hamas said in a Tuesday statement that “Biden and Blinken’s statements are misleading claims, and do not reflect the true position of the movement, which is keen to reach a cessation of aggression.”

“We consider these statements a renewed American green light for the government of Zionist extremists to commit more crimes against defenseless civilians, and in pursuit of the goals of exterminating and displacing our people,” it added.

Hamas has previously indicated it will not accept the latest proposal, saying on Sunday that the latest proposal doesn’t include a permanent ceasefire and introduced new conditions in the prisoner exchange, among other issues.

In a statement on Sunday, the militant group placed blame on Netanyahu for “obstructing” a deal from being reached.

The Hostage and Missing Families Forum said Tuesday that the recovery of hostage bodies provided “necessary closure,” and called for urgency to finalize a deal.

“The Israeli government, with the assistance of mediators, must do everything in its power to finalize the deal currently on the table,” it said in a statement.

Deranged American homosexual predatory paedophile sent to Illinois women’s prison to serve 87-year sentence for sexually molesting a minor

Deranged American homosexual predatory paedophile sent to Illinois women’s prison to serve 87-year sentence for sexually molesting a minor

James Blessent, a pervert man who claims to be a woman, will be ineligible for parole until 2095

By Edward Era Barbacena

James "Michelle" Blessent has been sent to the Logan Correctional Center for Women in Lincoln, with the trans-identified male being housed alongside female inmates, according to Reduxx. Blessent is legally male and marked as such in the Illinois Offender Directory.

A trans-identifying man from Bloomington, Ill., was sentenced to 87 years in prison after admitting to child grooming and two counts of sexual assault against a victim under the age of 13. Michelle Blessent, formerly known as James, received a sentence of 42 years for each count of predatory criminal sexual assault. Additionally, he was sentenced to three years for the count of grooming. The sentences will run consecutively, meaning Blessent will serve a total of 87 years.

"The men and women of the Bloomington Police Department strive to hold violent offenders accountable through diligent and effective investigations," said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington in a statement, according to WGLT. "The unfortunate victims in these cases deserve the best possible outcomes, and I pray the deliverance of justice helps with the healing process."

Under Illinois sentencing laws, 85 percent of sentences related to criminal sexual assault must be served, making Blessent ineligible for parole until 2095. Blessent was arrested in April 2023. Upon arrest, Blessent, who identifies as transgender, attempted to argue that he could not have committed these crimes because his cross-sex hormones affected his ability to maintain an erection.

Local Illinois outlet WMBD reported on the incident, referring to Blessent as a “Bloomington woman” and using “she” pronouns. Their coverage did not mention that Blessent identifies as transgender or that he has male genitalia. Additionally, leftists online criticized the Bloomington Police for allowing social media posts relating to the case to have “transphobic” comments posted in response to the incident.

American homosexual teens sue New Hampshire officials over new state law prohibiting them from competing on girls’ sports teams

American homosexual teens sue New Hampshire officials over new state law prohibiting them from competing on girls’ sports teams

The families of Parker Tirrell  and Iris Turmelle filed a lawsuit on Friday, challenging a New Hampshire state law that bans them from playing on girls' sports teams at their public high schools.

By Edward Era Barbacena

Two homosexual teenagers and their families filed a lawsuit Friday against New Hampshire education officials over a new state law prohibiting them from competing on girls’ sports teams at their public high schools.

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court in Concord, requests Parker Tirrell, 15, be able to play with the girls’ soccer team and Iris Turmelle, 14, be able to try out for the girls’ tennis and track and field teams.

House Bill 1205, scheduled to go into effect Monday, would ban both homosexual teens from playing on any girls’ sports teams at their schools, according to court documents. New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu signed the bill into law last month, saying in a statement it “ensures fairness and safety in women’s sports by maintaining integrity and competitive balance in athletic competitions.”

The advocacy group GLAD, the ACLU of New Hampshire and the law firm Goodwin Procter, who represent the girls and their families, allege the state law denies Tirrell and Turmelle equal educational opportunities and discriminates against them because they are transgender, which violates federal law and the constitutional right to equal protection.

“The law denies them the many educational, social, and physical and mental health benefits that come with playing sports, isolating them from friends and teammates while singling them out for discrimination solely because they are transgender girls,” GLAD said in a statement.

The lawsuit comes amid fierce debate across the US in recent years about bans against homosexual athletes. Weeks ago, a South Florida school district voted to give a 10-day suspension to an employee accused of allowing her transgender daughter to play on a girls’ high school volleyball team in 2022 and 2023 in violation of state law. In April, a federal appeals court ruled West Virginia cannot enforce its anti-transgender sports ban against a 13-year-old girl, dealing a blow to one of nearly two dozen such laws enacted by GOP-led states in recent years.

Tirrell and Turmelle both knew from an early age they were homosexuals and interacted with others as girls in every aspect of their lives, according to the suit. They have been accepted as girls by their parents, family, schools, peers, teammates and coaches, the suit said.

Both of the homosexual teens had been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, a health condition characterized by distress resulting from a mismatch between one’s birth sex and gender identity, the suit said. They are receiving puberty-blocking medication and hormone therapy “to alleviate the distress of physical characteristics that conflict with their gender identity,” the suit said.

Tirrell is a rising tenth grader at Plymouth Regional High School who played on the girls’ soccer team last year and was looking forward to joining his teammates later this month when the season kicks off, court documents said.

“Playing soccer with my teammates is where I feel the most free and happy. We’re there for each other, win or lose,” Tirrell said in a statement. “Not being allowed to play on my team with the other girls would disconnect me from so many of my friends and make school so much harder. I just want to be myself and to learn, play, and support my teammates like I did last year.”

Tirrell’s mother, Sara, said in a statement being excluded from the team could have an adverse effect on her daughter.

“Any parent wants to know their child is healthy, happy, and feels like they belong. That is no different for my husband and me as parents of a transgender daughter. I am really worried about the harmful impact it will have on Parker’s self-esteem and wellbeing if she is told she has to start the new school year without joining her teammates on the field.”

Turmelle is going to be a freshman at Pembroke Academy and was looking forward to trying out for the tennis and track and field teams, court documents state.

“Starting high school is exciting and new. I played intramural tennis in middle school. I’ve been looking forward to trying out for the tennis and track teams because it will be a way to make more friends in my new school, and I know I’ll learn a lot from it. I’m a transgender girl, I’ve known that my whole life and everyone knows I’m a girl. I don’t understand why I shouldn’t get to have the same opportunities as other girls at school,” Turmelle said in a statement.

Turmelle’s mother, Amy, said in a statement her daughter was excited to try out for the high school sports teams after she had been bullied in middle school.

“After participating in Girls on the Run he is also looking forward to a new challenge by trying out for the school track and field team,” he said in a statement. “Iris experienced bullying at his middle school, and my husband and I just want her to be safe, feel included, and to be treated fairly so he can have a positive and happy high school experience.”

New Hampshire is among 25 states with statewide laws banning transgender students from competing on sports teams aligning with their gender identities, according to data from Movement Advancement Project, a nonprofit think tank.

The lawsuit names New Hampshire Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut as well as other state and local education officials as defendants.

Gov. Sununu, the New Hampshire Department of Education and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office were not immediately available for comment.

African migrant who beheaded his victim and caused his intestines to spill out while still alive could avoid deportation from Germany 'because he will probably just come back from Somalia'

Mursal Mohamed Seid killed his 52-year-old flatmate Alex K. in a homeless shelter in the Bavarian town of Regen in July 2021

By Edward Era Barbacena

A migrant who beheaded his victim and caused his intestines to spill out while he was still alive could avoid deportation from Germany - because prosecutors think he would just come back from Somalia.

Mursal Mohamed Seid, 24, killed his 52-year-old flatmate Alex K. in a homeless shelter in the Bavarian town of Regen in July 2021.

He stabbed his victim 111 times with a knife before beheading him. Seid later told investigators that he believed his flatmate was possessed by two demons he had to kill.

The attack was so violent that the victim's intestines spilled out while he was still alive, German media reported at the time.

Seid is said to have committed the crime in a schizophrenic delusion and was therefore placed in the high-security ward of the district hospital in Mainkofen, Bavaria.

German immigration authorities want to deport him back to his native Somalia as soon as possible, but the prosecutors are hesitant to issue a deportation order because they think the criminal would return to Germany anyway, tabloid Bild reports.

Just a few weeks after he killed his flatmate, the Somalian tried to escape the high-security ward of a hospital in Bavaria where he is being held by hiding in a food cart.

Seid made a second escape attempt last week and managed to evade his female minders - a psychologist and an intern - while attending the family screening of a Disney film a week ago.

He was on the run for eight hours before the 100 police officers deployed for the search caught him three miles away from the cinema.

Prosecutors have been examining whether Seid's sentence in the secure hospital ward could be waived for him to be deported back to Somalia for two years.

Senior public prosecutor Oliver Baumgartner told Bild: 'The prescribed overall assessment must include, among other things, the seriousness of the crime, the dangerousness of the convicted person and the likelihood that the convicted person will return to Germany.

'In this regard, it was necessary to take into account that the convicted person would be free in his home country and that there is no guarantee that he will be treated properly. A return to Germany was considered possible.'

While the prosecutors are hesitant about signing the deportation order, Said also wrote a letter saying he refuses to be deported to Somalia in February.

Despite concerns about Seid's treatment progress, he was given a lower security level that enabled him to leave the hospital grounds while accompanied by a minder.

'The basic goal is to test the patient's resilience outside the clinical environment and to prepare him for later reintegration into society, Sabine Baeter, spokeswoman for the district, told Bild.

But Bavaria's interior minister Joachim Herrman is questioning the decision to grant Seid a cinema visit.

He told Bild: 'I will initiate a thorough investigation into why the district hospital even allowed this highly dangerous man to go to the cinema.'

Seid came to Germany as part of an asylum seeker programme in 2018 after fleeing Somalia for Sudan and then Libya, according to German outlet Nius.

Before the brutal murder of his flatmate, Seid already piled up convictions for causing bodily harm, robbery, theft in conjunction with attempted dangerous bodily harm and fraudulently obtaining services.

In February 2021, he received a two-year suspended sentence for these crimes, but since he was not imprisoned, he was allowed to return to the homeless shelter he lived at, where he ended up killing his flatmate.

A pastor has pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to two counts of committing physical sexual assault on a 13-year-old boy in a church two months ago.

B. Moses Melchizedek, 27, made the plea before Sessions Court judge Rasyihah Ghazali.

On the first count, he was charged with committing the offence by placing his toes on the boy’s private parts, while the second count was for allegedly placing the child’s hand on his private parts,

Bernama reported. Both offences were allegedly committed at a church in Bandar Bukit Puchong, Puchong, between 5pm and 7pm in June.

The charges were framed under Sections 14 (a) and 14 (b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 respectively, which provides a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, if found guilty.

The court allowed Moses bail of RM15,000 for both charges and also ordered him to report himself at the nearest police station every month and not to disturb the victim or witnesses.

The court set Sept 19 for mention.

Amateur fossil hunter discovers a thousand year old Columbian mammoth tusk in Mississippi

Amateur fossil hunter discovers a thousand year old Columbian mammoth tusk in Mississippi

Eddie Templeton discovered a completely intact Columbian mammoth tusk in Madison County, Mississippi.

By George N. Smith

CNN:  Amateur fossil hunter Eddie Templeton usually knows when he’s onto something. Having scoured creek banks in Mississippi since he was a kid, Templeton has made several stunning extinct mammal finds, including a mastodon mandible, numerous bones from a giant armadillo-relative, and even a saber-toothed cat’s foot bone. But his latest discovery may be the most unexpected.

Templeton was wading through around 3 feet (almost 1 meter) of water in a creek in Madison County on August 3 when he stumbled across a giant tusk partially exposed from the mud bank. The conditions weren’t great for fossil hunting, he said — the water had been blocked from draining downstream and there were no exposed gravel bars — so he hadn’t anticipated making a find of any particular importance that day. Coming across the 7-foot-long (2.1-meter-long) tusk, which turned out to be completely intact, and sharing it with George Phillips, the curator of paleontology at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, proved him wrong.

Phillips confirmed the tusk belonged to a Columbian mammoth, a distant relative of the woolly mammoth. Columbian mammoths lived during the end of the Pleistocene Epoch, making the fossil anywhere from about 11,700 to 75,000 years old, Phillips said.

“It was exciting to find a big piece of a tusk, certainly. But it was particularly exciting that it was a mammoth,” Templeton told CNN. “After the geologists got there, and we started uncovering it and realized that it was the entire tusk, from tip to base, it was even more exciting. So things just got better as the day went on.”

Prior to Templeton’s discovery, only isolated teeth of the Columbian mammoth had been unearthed in Mississippi, making it a first-of-its-kind find for the region and offering a “rare window” into the giant ice age mammals that once roamed the area, according to a statement from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

While the massive Columbian mammoth — which weighed over 22,000 pounds (10 tons) and could grow to be over 13 feet (4 meters) tall — lived across North America alongside the mastodon, its diet largely consisted of grasses found in grassland biomes, which were rare on what’s now the East Coast of the United States during that period, Phillips said. As a result, its fossils are much harder to come by in the area.

“For every, say, 25 fragments or whole teeth of American mastodon, we find maybe one mammoth tooth at best. So, mammoths are proportionally rare, not just with respect to mastodons, but to everything else,” Phillips said.

When Templeton first came across the giant tusk, he assumed it was from a mastodon, having found several remnants of the creature on his prior hunts. It was after the local museum and state office of geology helped him unearth the massive remains that Templeton began to have second thoughts — mostly due to the fossil’s telltale curve.

The Columbian mammoth’s tusks are so curved that two could almost make a complete circle, whereas common mastodons’ tusks do not curve nearly as much, Phillips said. The museum has numerous tooth fragments and even several complete teeth from the mammoth — there may even be some fragments of tusks from the giant mammal that cannot be distinguished from the mastodon without having the rest of the tusk — but a complete, intact tusk like the one discovered is especially rare, he added.

“I was kind of open mouthed when I saw the picture,” Phillips said. “I thought, ‘OK, well, cool, a tusk. Wait a second … it’s so curved. Holy cow, this is a mammoth tusk.’”

While unearthing the fossil, the field scientists simultaneously covered the exposed bits with plaster to keep the fossil protected during extraction. The tusks grew in rings, similar to how trees grow, Templeton said, which causes the fossils to be more likely to fragment once they dry up after being taken from the moist deposits where they are found.

The tusk — which weighed 600 pounds (272 kilograms) with the plaster jacket — is currently at the museum, where experts will closely monitor it while it dries out and then treat it with a cohesive for preservation. Scientists will also need to reassemble the fragile fossil, which broke into two pieces during transportation. Phillips said he hopes to have the tusk on display in time for the museum’s annual Fossil Road Show during the first week of March next year.

“I think most people are curious about the past, and these megafauna that existed during the ice age fascinate people,” Templeton said. “I’m sure there have been pieces of mammoth tusk found in Mississippi, but probably not positively identified as mammoths just because they’re fragments. But this is the first complete mammoth tusk found in Mississippi. And so that’s pretty cool.”

Indonesian woman died while being devoured by python in Palopo

Indonesian woman died while being devoured by  python in Palopo

By Edward Era Barbacena

CBS: The woman was found with bites on her head and legs near her family home after going to work in a field, said Awaluddin, head of Padang Lambe district in Palopo.

She was found in Padang Lambe by her daughter with the snake just feet from her body, Awaluddin told AFP.

Locals beat the snake to death and said the woman had been swallowed up to her shoulders and vomited out, he added.

Deaths by large constrictors are considered rare, but several people in Indonesia have been killed by pythons in recent years — including two other women since June.

Last month, a woman was found dead inside the belly of a snake after it swallowed her whole in Siteba village, in South Sulawesi province. Police said the 36-year-old mother had gone missing after she left her house to buy medicine for her sick child.

In June a woman was found dead inside the belly of a reticulated python in another district of South Sulawesi. Graphic video published by TMZ appeared to show the snake being cut open in a wooded area while more footage posted by the Daily Mail appeared to show the woman's body being carried in a blanket past distressed villagers.

Last year residents in the province killed an eight-meter python, which was found strangling and eating one of the farmers in a village.

In 2022, a woman in Indonesia's Jambi province was killed and swallowed whole by a python, the BBC reported, citing local media.

In 2018, a 54-year-old woman was found dead inside a seven-meter python in Southeast Sulawesi's Muna town.

The year before that, a farmer in West Sulawesi went missing before being found eaten alive by a four-meter python at a palm oil plantation. A six-minute video obtained by CBS News showed villagers slicing open the python's carcass to reveal the legs and torso of the dead victim, named Akbar.

The reticulated python is the longest snake in the world, according to London's Natural History Museum. They are native to Southern Asia and can grow to be more than 20 feet long.

Zoo Atlanta, which houses reticulated pythons, says the snakes "have a reputation for being aggressive.

Richard Dawkins had his posts deleted calling Algerian boxer Imane Khelif a ‘man’—as she files harassment complaint

Richard Dawkins had his posts deleted calling Algerian boxer Imane Khelif a ‘man’—as she files harassment complaint

Dawkins tweeted that Olympic boxer Imane Khelif is a man ‘masquerading’ as a woman.

By Edward Era Barbacena

After Algerian boxer Imane Khelif won her first Olympic match earlier this month, the internet debated her gender, given the boxer was previously disqualified from another championship due to alleged “elevated levels of testosterone.”

Though Khelif is a biological woman, many accused her of secretly competing as either a transgender woman or a biological man.

As she continued in the Games, the online harassment continued. Richard Dawkins, an esteemed British biologist, and one of many vocal figures on the matter, disparaged Khelif for being a “man” who beat up on female boxers during official Olympic matches.

After the Games ended, Khelif filed a legal complaint in France concerning the “misogynist, racist and sexist” harassment she experienced through viral transphobic tweets.

As reported by the Associated Press, French prosecutors will now decide whether to investigate the claims in Khelif’s complaint.

Dawkins posted an inflammatory tweet about Khelif and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting.

“Two men, masquerading as women, are being allowed to box against real women in the Olympics,” Dawkins tweeted on July 29.

The URL now returns a message noting the post has been deleted

Dawkins made other posts that indirectly referenced the controversy and which are still up.

On Aug. 8, he tweeted a photo of a motorcyclist riding with cyclists with the caption “biker who identifies as cyclist wins Tour de France.”

He also retweeted a similar post about a cheetah “who identifies as a man” winning a gold medal over human runners.

And during the controversy, Dawkins claimed he was being censored for his views.

On Aug. 2, Dawkins tweeted that Facebook “deleted” his account “for no apparent reason.”

A Russian zoophilic tourist who tried to rape a cow ended up being mauled by a bull and had to be rescued by Thai police.

By Edward Era Barbacena

Evgenii Kuvshinov, 26, is said to have stripped off and sidled over to a male bull before turning his attention to a female tied to a wooden fence in a field in Surat Thani, southern Thailand, yesterday afternoon.

The holidaymaker allegedly tried to mount the cow only for her to react violently - pinning him to the ground and goring him.

Concerned locals, who suspected the Russian was up to no good when they saw him prowling naked, had already called police. They also heard his cries for help while being attacked and stood next to him as they waited for officers to arrive.

Shocking footage shows Kuvshinov lying on the ground without any clothes as the brown cow attacks him.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and carried the Russian away on a stretcher. He was taken to the Bannaderm Hospital to be treated for wounds on his bottom and abrasions all over his body.

A paramedic from the Ban Na Doem Foundation who treated Kuvshinov said they suspected he had been trying to have sex with the cow.

They said: 'We found cannabis in his car so maybe he was high. The way we found him, his actions suggest that he was trying to do something dirty with the cow, that he was trying to have sex with her.'

Police Lieutenant Thongchai Chaikit of Ban Na Doem Police Station Kuvshinov said they received reports of a foreign man in an 'altercation' with a cow on August 15 at 5.40pm.

The officer said the cow charged at the suspect when he was trying to restrain it by holding its head and he was 'lucky that the rescue team arrived to save him'.

Police Lieutenant Thongchai added: 'When we arrived at the scene, the suspect was being attacked by the cow. Witnesses said he had first went to a male cow then over to the female and tried to climb on top of her.

'It's possible he was trying to make love to the cow but we can't say for sure. There was no semen on her.

'He kept walking and speaking Russian without any meaning. He had no smell of alcohol. In his car, there were marijuana and his passport torn apart.

'We sent him to hospital because he was injured on his bottom, but he went crazy at the hospital and the doctors would not admit him, so now he is detained at our police station.

'Now we are waiting for the tourist police and the immigration police to work on it, then we can conduct investigation.'

First case of horrendous monkey pox found outside Africa

First case of horrendous monkey pox found outside Africa

By Edward Era Barbacena

BBC: Sweden's public health agency has recorded what it says is the first case of a contagious new variant of mpox outside the African continent.

The person became infected during a stay in an area of Africa where there is currently a major outbreak of mpox Clade 1, the agency said.

The news comes just hours after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the outbreak of mpox in parts of Africa was now a public health emergency of international concern.

At least 450 people died during an initial outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the disease has since spread to areas of central and east Africa.

Mpox, which was previously known as monkeypox, is transmitted through close contact, such as sex, skin-to-skin contact and talking or breathing close to another person.

It causes flu-like symptoms, skin lesions and can be fatal, with four in 100 cases leading to death.

There are two types of mpox, Clade 1 and Clade 2. While Clade 2 did cause a public health emergency in 2022 it was relatively mild and has already appeared in Sweden.

The Swedish public health agency said Clade 1 was likely to be linked to "a higher rise of a more severe course of disease and higher mortality".

It said Clade 1 was more commonly spread through close contacts within households and often to children, while the milder variant was mainly spread through sexual contact.

WHO Declares Global Health Emergency Over Monkeypox Outbreak In Africa

WHO Declares Global Health Emergency Over Monkeypox Outbreak In Africa

By Edward Era Barbacena

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared mpox a global health emergency.

This declaration comes as the virus, known for causing lesions across the body, continues to spread across several African nations, including Burundi, Kenya, and Rwanda.

Since the beginning of the year, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reported over 13,700 cases and 450 deaths due to the virus.

The rise in numbers has pushed WHO to categorize the situation as a “public health emergency of international concern.” This category has previously been used for significant outbreaks like Ebola and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s clear that a coordinated international response is essential to stop these outbreaks and save lives,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. He further emphasized that “stopping these outbreaks will require a tailored and comprehensive” reaction from communities.

The declaration follows a recent assembly of WHO experts who convened to evaluate the growing threat of the mpox virus in Africa. Reports from the Manchester Evening News indicate that the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) have expressed concern about the spread of a new strain of mpox across the continent.

In addressing the Emergency Committee, WHO noted that mpox has been present in the DRC for over a decade, with cases steadily increasing each year. The situation escalated significantly last year, and this year has already surpassed last year’s totals, with more than 14,000 cases and 524 deaths reported.

Of particular concern is the emergence and rapid spread of the clade 1b strain in the DRC, which seems to be primarily transmitted through sexual networks. This strain has also been detected in neighboring countries, which have not previously reported cases of mpox, including Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda. WHO stated, “We are not dealing with one outbreak of one clade – we are dealing with several outbreaks of different clades in different countries with different modes of transmission and different levels of risk.”

Notorious homosexual pedophile Australian Catholic priest Gerald Ridsdale admits more sex abuse of young boys

Notorious homosexual pedophile Australian Catholic priest Gerald Ridsdale admits more sex abuse of young boys

He was convicted between 1993 and 2017 of a large number of child sexual abuse and indecent assault charges against 65 children aged as young as four years.

By Edward Era Barbacena

Convicted pedophile priest Gerald Ridsdale has admitted more historical sexual abuse of young boys  in Victoria.

Appearing in Bendigo Magistrates Court via video link from Port Phillip Prison, as he lay in his prison bed and propped up by three pillows, the frail 90-year-old pleaded guilty to eight additional sexual assault charges against children.
He was facing 62 child sexual assault charges but 56 were withdrawn.

The homosexual Catholic priest, who had been too unwell to appear before his committal hearing previously, admitted six counts of indecently assaulting young males and two counts of buggery of two children who were aged under 14.
The crimes were committed in the regional Victorian towns of Inglewood, Ballarat, Apollo Bay, Horsham and Mortlake between 1973 and 1981.
"Are you guilty or not guilty, Mr Ridsdale," Magistrate Megan Aumair asked the accused on Wednesday.

Ridsdale is serving a maximum of 40 years in prison after previously pleading guilty to sexually abusing at least 72 children during the 1970s and '80s while working as a Catholic priest at multiple schools and churches across Victoria.
He had a fall in November 2022 and was bed-ridden, suffering chronic pain, muscle wasting and weak limbs and was recommended to be placed into palliative care in 2023.
If he serves out his current maximum sentence, Ridsdale will be at least 100 years old.
His previous offending largely took place in western Victoria where he spent most of his time as a priest after being ordained in 1961.
He also served in NSW and in New Mexico in the United States, where he underwent church-connected sex offender treatment.

Elon Musk and JK Rowling Named in Cyberbullying Lawsuit Filed by Masculine Algerian Boxer with XY chromosomes Imane Khelif After Olympic Win

Elon Musk and JK Rowling Named in Cyberbullying Lawsuit Filed by Masculine Algerian Boxer with XY  chromosomes Imane Khelif After Olympic Win

By Edward Era Barbacena

J.K. Rowling and Elon Musk have both been named in a criminal complaint filed to French authorities over alleged “acts of aggravated cyber harassment” against Algerian boxer and newl crowned Olympic champion Imane Khelif.

Nabil Boudi, the Paris-based attorney of Khelif, confirmed to Variety that both figures were mentioned in the body of the complaint, posted to the anti-online hatred center of the Paris public prosecutor’s office on Friday.

The lawsuit was filed against X, which under French law means that it was filed against unknown persons. That “ensure[s] that the ‘prosecution has all the latitude to be able to investigate against all people,” including those who may have written hateful messages under pseudonyms, said Boudi. The complaint nevertheless mentions famously controversial figures.

“J. K. Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others,” he said, adding that Donald Trump would be part of the investigation. “Trump tweeted, so whether or not he is named in our lawsuit, he will inevitably be looked into as part of the prosecution.”

Khelif — who on Saturday won the Olympic gold medal in the women’s 66 kilogram boxing competition — spent much of the 2024 Olympics in Paris at the center of a noisy and unpleasant dispute about her gender eligibility that reverberated around the world. Despite being born female and not identifying as transgender or intersex — and being backed by the International Olympic Committee, who asserted “scientifically, this is not a man fighting a woman” — Khelif faced a torrent of accusations and abuse over her gender.

Most of the attacks came via social media, particularly on X/Twitter, and the controversy was escalated when high-profile figures stepped into the fray. In one message to her 14.2 million followers, Rowling posted a picture from Khelif’s fight with Italian boxer Angela Carini, accusing the former of being a man who was “enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head.” Musk, meanwhile, shared a post from swimmer Riley Gaines that claimed “men don’t belong in women’s sports.” The X owner co-signed the message by writing: “Absolutely.” Trump posted a message with a picture from the fight with Carina accompanied by the message: “I will keep men out of women’s sports!”

Boudi said that although the complaint mentions names, “What we’re asking is that the prosecution investigates not only these people but whoever it feels necessary. If the case goes to court, they will stand trial.”

Boudi also claimed that while the lawsuit was filed in France, “it could target personalities overseas,” pointing out that “the prosecutor’s office for combating online hate speech has the possibility to make requests for mutual legal assistance with other countries.” He added that there were agreements with the U.S. equivalent of the French office for combating online hate speech.

Logan Paul was also among those who attacked Khelif on social media, posting on X following her win against Carini: “This is the purest form of evil unfolding right before our eyes. A man was allowed to beat up a woman on a global stage, crushing her life’s dream while fighting for her deceased father. This delusion must end.”

Paul later deleted the post and admitted that he “might be guilty of spreading misinformation.”

But for Bouli, such apologies — including those that Khelif has received personally from prominent figures who tweeted derogatory comments — wouldn’t change anything regarding the investigation. “The lawsuit is filed and the facts remain,” he said.

As for X, Boudi said the complaint is aimed at the authors of social media posts and not the platforms themselves. “It’s the responsibility of lawmakers to issue sanctions to platforms, not ours,” he said. But he did note that cyber harassment cases were now being taken much more seriously by judicial authorities and that, in some cases, “there are prison sentences.”

Khelif’s coach, Pedro Diaz, told Variety that the bullying Khelif endured during her run in the Olympics “incredibly affected her” and “everyone around her.”

“The first time she fought in the Olympics, there was this crazy storm outside of the ring,” said Diaz, who runs Miami-based Mundo Boxing Gym and started training with Khelif in February 2023. “I had never seen anything so disgusting in my life,” added the coach, who has participated in the training of 21 Olympic champions prior to the Algerian boxer. Diaz said he asked Khelif to refrain from looking at social media so she “wouldn’t lose her focus on winning the gold medal.”

“She’s so smart and has such an amazing motivation,” he said, adding that her gold medal win “felt like the most rewarding victory of my career as a coach.”

4-day-old twins killed in Gaza after airstrike by Israeli forces while the father retrieving birth certificates

4-day-old twins killed in Gaza after airstrike by Israeli forces while the father retrieving birth certificates

While Mohammed went to register the birth of his newborn twins, an airstrike hit his temporary home. His wife and both kids were killed.

By Edward Era Barbacena

Newborn twins in Gaza were killed with their mother and grandmother as their father went to collect birth certificates earlier today.

Aysal, a girl, and brother Aser were born over the weekend and were just four days old when father Mohammed Abu al Qumsan left their home in Deir al Balah, central Gaza.

By the time he returned on Tuesday morning, with the certificates, his family had been killed in an airstrike.

According to local media, the family had been displaced from northern Gaza and had sheltered further south.

Video shared on social media shows the hysterical father being consoled by others, as someone holds what look like birth certificates.

His cries grow quieter and he appears to faint while two other men try to hold him up.

I don't know what happened'

His wife, pharmacist Joumana Arafa, had given birth by Cesarean section and announced the twins' arrival on Facebook.

On Tuesday, he had gone to register the births at a local government office - but while he was there neighbours called to say his temporary home had been bombed.

"I don't know what happened," he said. "I am told it was a shell that hit the house."

The couple had heeded orders to evacuate Gaza City in the opening weeks of the war, seeking shelter in the centre of the territory as the army had instructed, the Associated Press reports.

Israel's military did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the strike.

Israel says it tries to avoid harming civilians and blames deaths on Hamas operating in dense residential areas, sometimes launching attacks from homes and schools.

But the army rarely comments on individual strikes.

The enclave's Hamas-run health minister claims at least 39,929 Palestinians have been killed and 92,240 wounded in that time, with 32 dead in the past 24 hours.

On Saturday, at least 80 people were killed and 50 others wounded in a strike on a school compound, Palestinian health authorities said - though Israel disputes the figure and said Hamas was operating there.

Israeli hostage killed

Gaza has been bombarded by Israel since 7 October, when Hamas - which controls the territory - stormed into southern Israel, killed around 1,200 people and took around 250 people hostage.

Hamas said on Monday an Israeli male hostage held in Gaza had been shot dead by his guard, with two women being held seriously wounded in a separate incident.

Abu Ubaida, a spokesperson for Hamas's armed al-Qassam Brigades, said a committee has been formed to investigate what happened in both incidents.
