Manila:. The Philippine Court of Appeals upholds the conviction of Rappler CEO and Filipino journalist Maria Ressa and former writer Reynaldo Santos today for cyber libel

In a statement, Rappler says Ressa and Santos disagree with the decision and their legal counsels are currently reviewing the decision. Both will avail of all legal remedies available to them, including elevating the decision to the Supreme Court for review

The case stems from a 2012 Rappler article which reported on businessman Wilfredo Keng's alleged ties to illegal activities.

Ressa and Santos said they will avail all legal remedies available to them, including elevating the decision to the SC for review

CA affirms Manila court ruling but modifies sentence to maximum of 6 years, 8 months, and 20 days — vs original decision of 6 years.
