A bus belonging to Ceres Liner hit a passengers’ waiting lounge inside a terminal in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday morning, July 5, causing injuries to at least four passengers.

Based on a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the terminal, the bus overshot the gutter serving as stopper while being maneuvered in the parking area.

Jade Seballos, media and legal officer of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), said the bus which services the Dumaguete to Bayawan City route, has no mechanical defect when checked by their maintenance personnel.

Seballos said the bus driver is under police custody for further investigation to determine what really caused the accident.

Seballos said that two of the four injured persons were admitted to the hospital, while the other two were already discharged. The bus firm already extended medical assistance to them.

Seballos said the bus driver has been with the company for 15 years, and has no record of any accident.

She added they will impose a sanction against the bus driver after the police investigation.
