A 61-year-old white Fairfield man has been arrested on suspicion of his wife’s murder after both were reported missing earlier this week, police said.

Fairfield police said that detectives arrested Greg Hobson on Thursday after locating him and the 2021 Toyota Tacoma that he and his wife, 53-year-old Anu Aanand Hobson, had been traveling in. An officer spotted the missing truck Thursday afternoon at Walters Rd. and E. Tabor Ave. in Fairfield. His wife was not with him.

Police said based on the evidence they found, they believe Anu was killed.

"Over the course of the investigation they developed probable cause to believe that Mr. Hobson had murdered his wife Anu," said Fairfield police public information officer Jennifer Brantley.

Anu’s body has not been found but police said they believe she was killed.

The initial missing person's report was taken Wednesday evening, police said.

Brantley wouldn't say who filed the report but said "there were concerns over their safety."

As detectives were searching for the vehicle they discovered it had been seen on cameras near Sacramento on Tuesday.

The couple lived in a quiet cul de sac in Fairfield. Neighbor said their adult children, who are in their 20's also lived with them.

Neighbors said there was never any trouble or violence at the home.

"I would never expect anything like that," said Ron Scharfen. "Anu and the kids are very nice. Greg didn’t want to talk to anybody."
