By Edward Era Barbacena
A mass shooting early on Sunday morning in Memphis left one person dead and five in critical condition at two separate crime scenes that the authorities said they believed were connected.
When police officers arrived around 12:43 a.m. at a local establishment, Live Lounge, they found two shooting victims in critical condition, the police said
Another five victims had left the scene by private vehicle and arrived at hospitals in noncritical condition, the police said. Officers learned that there were more injured people a few streets away. At the second unidentified location, officers found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene and three other victims who were in critical condition, the police said.
Officials said five people remained in critical condition on Sunday afternoon. Five others had been discharged from the hospital.
Investigators said they identified three persons of interest they believed could be involved in the shootings. Their names were not made public. Their potential connection to the victims and what led to the gunfire were not immediately clear.
The owners of Live Lounge could not be immediately reached on Sunday.
