Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's "Twitter killer" Threads has reached 70 million sign-ups just two days after its launch.

"70 million sign ups on Threads as of this morning," Zuckerberg posted on his new text-based social media platform.

"Way beyond our expectations," he said.

Remember that Meta officially launched Threads on Thursday, July 6.

"I am looking to the fun journey ahead to turn this into the kind of big and friendly community that I think we all want to see in the world," said Zuckerberg when he announced the launch of such an app.

Threads is believed to be Twitter owned and operated by Elon Musk.

A few hours after Threads was launched, Zuckerberg tweeted a "meme" about two Spiderman cartoons pointing at each other, which he said may have addressed the similarities between Threads and Twitter.

This tweet is the first Twitter post by the Meta CEO since January 2012.
