Mass shooting again in the United States leaves 5 injured during vigil for Philadelphia homicide victims

A teen boy, two women and two men were all injured in a drive-by mass shooting during a vigil for a Philadelphia homicide victim, police said.
The victims were gathered on the 500 block of East Wyoming Avenue at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. They were attending a vigil for Orlando Negron, a 20-year-old man who had been killed in a shooting back on July 5 in Philadelphia that also left a teen boy injured, according to investigators.
During Tuesday night's vigil, a white Jeep Cherokee drove past the crowd and at least two gunmen inside the vehicle opened fire, police said.
A 68-year-old man was shot twice in the face, a 17-year-old boy was shot once in the leg, a 24-year-old woman was shot once in the ankle, a 23-year-old man was shot once in the thigh and a 23-year-old woman was shot once in the shin, according to investigators.
All of the victims were taken to the hospital and are all currently in stable condition, police said. The white Jeep Cherokee was later found unoccupied along the 5000 block of North 5th Street, according to investigators. Police said multiple weapons were inside of the vehicle. They continue to search for the gunmen but have not yet released a description of the suspects.
"It's unfortunate while there are those out grieving and mourning the loss of people that they may or may not have known, that there was a safety issue," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said.
The incident occurred a little more than two weeks after another mass shooting in Philadelphia left five people, including a teenager, dead and two children injured.
