Another dirty old white homosexual Catholic priest is now facing an embarrassing scandal after being accused of sexually molesting innocent young boys.
A high-profile priest has been charged with child sex offences allegedly committed more than 50 years ago.
Father David Lancini, who served for 49 years as the Catholic priest in the Townsville Diocese, in Far North Queensland, has been charged with eight counts of indecent treatment of boys under 14.
The charges relate to acts allegedly committed between 1969 and 1971.
It's understood the charges relate to one child who was living in Townsville at the time.
Lancini, 77, was charged on November 13.
A spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of Townsville said Lancini 'strongly denies any involvement in the alleged offences'.
'Fr Dave Lancini is currently not involved in any public ministry until such time as the legal proceedings has concluded,' they said.
'The Diocese of Townsville has full confidence in the legal system.
'The Diocese of Townsville is committed to doing all it can to ensure victims of such abuse receive justice and healing.'
The priest was seen blessing the North Queensland Cowboys during their campaign to the NRL Grand Final in 2015.
He will face court in Townsville on December 5.
Lancini was ordained as a priest in August, 1972.
