Once the United States - the country with the highest mass shooting in the world has another deadly shooting that took away the lives of 5 people
A child has died while four others including a second child were shot while at Texas flea market on Sunday afternoon - with the gunman still on the run.
All five who were shot were taken to local area hospitals but a child did not survive. The condition of the other four who were shot is not currently known.
Police said they did not think it was a targeted attack and was instead an isolated incident between the people involved in the argument.
The Houston Police Department and Harris County Precinct 2 Constable's are assisting Pearland Police in the response and sent their patrol cars to the scene and to help block off roads.
No description of the gunman has yet been released. But many witnesses said that the shooter was white.
Chad Rogers, Public Information Officer for the Pearland Police Department said the area is still an active scene and a manhunt was underway for the shooter.
During a late night press conference, Rogers said the shooting occurred between two people who did not know one another.
'If you saw something, heard something and you need to let us know, please call that number and help our investigators out,' Rogers pleaded.
'This is not anything that happens in Pearland, this is extremely tragic anytime someone is a victim of gun violence, especially in our community, this does not happen here in Pearland,' he said.
Police said the two were armed with guns and exchanged gunfire inside the market.
One eyewitness spoke to ABC13 and said they heard what sounded like 'blasts in the distance.'
