In a shocking incident during a live broadcast from Xiamen, Fujian, a Chinese streamer and his friend were attacked by a sword-wielding man, resulting in the streamer's hand being cut off. The assailant, identified as 'Luo,' allegedly had a prior dispute with the streamer and his friend on Douyin, the Chinese TikTok platform.
The attack, witnessed by 99 viewers, quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage and calls for justice. Footage showed the streamer and his friend fleeing from the attacker, who continued to wield the sword, chasing and threatening others in the area. Photos circulated online depicted the severed hand lying on the ground, further intensifying public shock.
Responding to reports of the ongoing fight, an ambulance and police officers were dispatched to the scene. Despite suffering "non-life-threatening injuries," the streamer and his friend were taken to the hospital. Disturbingly, the streamer had lost a hand and sustained injuries to his back.
The police arrested the suspect a few hours after the incident, and an investigation is underway. Charges are pending against Luo, who retaliated violently following the dispute on Douyin. This alarming incident adds to a series of disturbing events involving livestreamers, underscoring the potential dangers associated with online platforms.
