A former youth pastor is now staring down prison time after he was found guilty of sexually exploiting a child.
As Fountain police reported last year, Jeffrey Williams was arrested in November of last year for allegedly sending sexually explicit material to one of the kids who attended his youth group. He was booked into the El Paso County jail on charges of obscenity and unlawful sexual communication in a position of trust. Police said at the time that Williams turned himself in.
On Oct. 13, 2023, one year to the day after police began their investigation, Williams was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor - possession and sexual exploitation of a minor - enticement.
Williams was a pastor with the Salvation Army from 2013-2017, when it was still based in Fountain. The Fountain Police Department said the Salvation Army was “extremely” helpful during the investigation.
“We are thankful for their assistance,” the police department said Wednesday when announcing the conviction.
