A grand jury indicted an ex-teacher from Burke County on three more child sex charges.
Aaron Mirtsching, 42, was indicted on three counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult by a Burke County Grand Jury on Jan. 2, according to court documents filed at the Burke County Courthouse.
The new charges against him came after a fourth victim spoke to detectives, said Burke County Sheriff Banks Hinceman.
This victim was 8-9 years old when the alleged crimes took place, according to the indictment. The crimes occurred from Sept. 1, 2020, to May 28, 2021.
Mirtsching, who previously worked as a teacher at New Dimensions Charter School and as a youth leader at Thrive Church, already has 15 pending counts of indecent liberties with a child and four pending counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a previous News Herald article.
All of the victims were between 7 and 9 years old at the time of the alleged crimes.
Mirtsching left New Dimensions at the end of the 2022-23 school year, and Thrive Church relieved him of his position when church leadership found out about the charges against him
He currently is being held at the Burke County Jail under a total $450,000 secured bond, according to jail records.
