Abducted  woman found dead in Atlanta: police arrested suspect

Mariam Abdulrab, 27, was found dead on Burroughs Street in the Chosewood Park neighborhood, hours after her Burroughs Street abduction was reported.

ATLANTA, Georgia.- A young woman who had been kidnapped in the early hours of this Friday was found dead less than a mile and a half from where she was forced into a truck, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Family and friends were able to identify the victim as Mariam Abdulrab , 27. Although the police have not revealed the name of the victim, they did specify that they received a call at 5:00 am from a person who reported seeing a woman who was being forced into a van at 501 Burroughs Street.

"My daughter was the most peaceful and loving person. She did not deserve this," said Khalid Abdulrab, the victim's father.

Abdulrab worked at Revery Bar. At around 6:00 a.m., officers received a shooting call in the Lakewood Avenue and Terrace Way area.

Investigators determined that the shooting call was likely related to this incident and investigators were responding to inspect the area, when a witness called around 9:55 a.m. and said Abdulrab was found dead near 1907 Lakewood Avenue.

Police said investigators were able to identify a person of interest in the kidnapping and that he has been detained outside the city.

911 was called and authorities rushed down to the scene and a lead that is a person of interest in the shooting was found by the police, and his 2013 Chevrolet Equinox South Atlanta. 27-year-old Demarcus Brinkley crashed into a Buick as he led the police into a race in Griffin, which landed him and the Buick’s Driver in the hospital, According to the Georgia State Patrol.

Investigators confirmed that Brinkley was wanted as a person of interest in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Mariam Abdulrab. No charges have been filed at this time, police said.Brinkley as a person of interest has a criminal record of child molestation, he was convicted on September 29, 2015.

Charges related to Abdulrab’s kidnapping and murder, has not been filed and the state patrol said that Brinkley will be held on traffic charges once he is released from the hospital.
