Los Angeles, California – Police were seeking a suspect Wednesday after a store employee was fatally shot in the Fairfax area of Los Angeles while trying to break up an altercation over a shoe raffle.

26-year-old Jayren Bradford tried to break up a fight over a shoe raffle outside of the Shoe Palace on Melrose Avenue when he was shot and killed.

The shooting was captured by a stunned onlooker across the street yelling, “Oh my God! Get in! Get in!” to others nearby as they scrambled to safety.

When police arrived, they found a male in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

According to Bradford’s co-worker and witness Keyshawn Williams, an argument erupted over a pair of Jordan’s.

“Jay came from his car and he confronted them saying, ‘What’s the problem? What’s the deal?’ Then everybody shifted their aggression towards Jay,” Keyshawn Williams said. “And they were here with other friends, so they all surrounded him and that’s when he was shot.”

“Next thing I know there’s ladies in the front of the store flipping tables, going crazy about the raffle and next thing you know they walk off and then I heard a gun shot,” the witness said.

A bottle of water and pieces of clothing were seen laying in the middle of the street.

“It’s very heartbreaking because he just lived down the street, he walked to work,” the victim’s friend, Eric Tacam, said. “He was from Colorado. He moved out here last year and he was pursuing his career to become a musician. He was just a nice person, a great person. Every time I came in, my family came in, he always took care of us, he always looked out for us.”

Police are now looking for these suspects resposible for
death of Jayren Badford

Police said the suspect is a Hispanic man in his 20s wearing dark clothing. Police said he fled the scene going north on Genesse Avenue in a silver Toyota Camry with a temporary license plate number BC10D32.
