Another 4th of July mass shooting killing one teenager and injuring 11 others in Toledo, Ohio
By Edward Era Barbacena
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Multiple shots were heard at a block party in Toledo Monday morning and left a teenager dead. Also, total of 12 people were shot.
The call came in late Sunday night and the trouble lasted until after midnight.
The police chief says when officers first arrived, they really didn't see any need to break up the party, but just after midnight, gunfire broke out. At one point, 300 people were fighting in the street.
A police detective told local media that some of those injured included children. Police didn’t have any details about the circumstances of the shootings or how many people were involved.
A total of 80 rounds were fired from multiple guns.
Twelve people were hit with bullets -- one of those, a 17-year-old who was flown to the University of Michigan where he later declared dead.
Toledo Police Chief George Kral said Monday at a news conference that 12 people were shot during the incident. He said a call came in at 12:24 a.m. for a male shooting into the air and 300 people fighting in the street in the area of Lawrence Avenue near Wall Street.

Kral said nine people are in stable condition. Three are 19 years old, one is 18, two are 17, two are 16, one is 15 and one is 11.
Two people are in critical condition; a 51-year-old male and a 19-year-old.
"We should be angry," Kral said. "We need to come together as a community. We've seen violence like this in this country all year long, and now it's hit home. Someone there knows who was shooting these guns."
A witness says it was a family event, and the troublemakers just appeared.
Authorities have lamented the fact that people who were at the party seem to be reluctant to talk and give police information.
So far there are no suspects.
