Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo seeks gold on the vault

Although tempering expectations for an Olympic medal, gymnast Carlos Yulo seeks to eclipse his vault qualification score in the finals

Tokyo — Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo is looking ahead to bag the gold medal for the artistic gymnastics vault final of the Tokyo Olympics on August 2.

After all, asians surprisingly are doing well along with europeans and other westerners when it comes to this acrobatic sports and advance to the finals.

" I was so surprised, I wasn't expecting that I will make it through." Yulo said

Yulo, though, wants to temper expectations as Filipino sports officials tabbed him as one of the Philippines' top Olympic gold medal bets.

 His performance on the vault redeemed for his technical error in the floor exercise, which was his favorite event, where was expected to grab the country’s first-ever Olympic gold.

An expected piffle on landing during his routine at the floor exercise earned him a score of 13.566 which made him so upset.

Yulo can still atone himself at the vault and there is a great chance to win the gold medal.

When asked about his medal chances, Yulo doesn't keep up his hopes, but that doesn't mean he won't be in the top three either.

" It's very vague, many of the competitors are good," he replied.

" I can still manage to improve," Yulo said of his 14.712 in the qualifying while also adding that he will need to register a score of at least a 15 to medal in vault.
