Police in Atlanta, Georgia, are investigating after a gay Asian man was found clinging to life on train tracks with a serious head injury

Joshua Dowd, 28, was rushed to Grady Hospital on Sunday (July 11) after he was found on train tracks near Piedmont and Lakeshore Drive by a man walking in the area. The man who called the police said there was no one else near the scene.
His partner of three-and-a-half years, Colin Kelly, told CBS 46 that Dowd was found in an area “he would [not] typically be in.” According to Kelly, Dowd went out with friends in Midtown on Saturday night before separating from the group.

A gay man remains hospitalized, barely clinging to life in Atlanta following the discovery of his bloodied body on train tracks in the neighborhood of Buckhead.
Paramedics rushed Joshua Dowd, 28, to the hospital early Sunday (July 18) morning. A passer-by noticed his body on the train tracks, barely breathing and bleeding from the head. Apart from the passer-by, the area was deserted at the time.
Dowd is currently in the hospital with severe brain damage. There is a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his hospital expenses.
He was found with a life-threatening head injury on train tracks off Piedmont Road remains in a coma after doctors performed emergency surgery.
“Joshua is the most kind, caring, spirited, Ariana Grande-loving person on this planet,” the GoFundMe reads. “He has changed the lives of many… We are asking anyone who knows him, or even anyone who knows us, to please help. Donating will help him and his family pay his medical bills. Undergoing surgery and being in the ICU has piled on the expenses, and every bit will help him along the way.”
The incident is currently listed as “Miscellaneous Non-crime,” but the case is still under investigation.
Dowd’s friends started a GoFundMe page to help with their loved one’s medical bills. The GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $82,000 in the five days since it was created.
According to the campaign, Dowd was “left for dead on a railroad track in Atlanta” before he was transported to the hospital. It said Dowd has received brain surgery but is still “currently fighting for his life”. His friends added that doctors are unsure “what the outcome will be” for Dowd’s recovery.
