Mass shooting in Washington DC leaves 6 year old girl dead and five wounded

A six year old girl was killed and five adults were injured in a mass shooting in Washington DC late on Friday night.
The shooting happened just after 11pm near a Popeyes restaurant at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X avenues.
Officers from the department’s 7th district heard the shots fired and responded to the intersection, police said.
Executive Assistant Chief Ashan Benedict said the girl was pronounced dead at Sibley Memorial hospital.

The injured victims were three adult males, and two adult females.
Benedict said: ‘Our condolences go out to the family of the six year old victim, and the shooting victims as well.
‘Any shooting that takes place in the city is unacceptable.'
‘We are responding to too many calls of children being affected by gunfire. Please, help us bring these shooters to justice.’
No arrests have been made. Police are hunting for a ‘dark in color vehicle’.
