This year, another white woman working as a nurse has been charged of murder for the death of an innocent child.  This is the second time around wherein a white woman becomes involved in child's murder

The first was Lucy Letby, a British nurse who was  found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others at the hospital where she worked, making her the country’s worst baby serial killer in recent times.

The Michigan Board of Nursing Disciplinary Subcommittee voted Tuesday to permanently revoke the registered nursing license of a woman convicted of second-degree murder, according to Michigan Attorney Dana Nessel.

Judith Sobol, 43, is facing 30 to 75 years in prison after she was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 3-year-old Ophelia Mazure last year in Coloma Township, Nessel said.

"This was a tragic murder, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family who lost their child,” Nessel said. “In addition to her very lengthy prison sentence, Sobol will never practice healthcare again. No family should ever experience this horror at the hands of a medical professional, and here the board fulfilled their duty to protect the integrity of the profession and the safety of patients.”

Sobol, who was Mazure's night nurse, was under the influence of methamphetamine the night of June 20, 2022, when the girl's trachea tube was disconnected, causing the child to die.

She is currently serving time in the State Huron Valley Correctional Facility.

The Board of Nursing Disciplinary Subcommittee issued an order in February to revoke her license and imposed a $150,000 fine against her, according to a news release.

Previously, Sobol was eligible to petition for reinstatement of her license after three years and payment of the fine.
