A sex offender in Moberly was charged on Thursday with possessing child pornography and failing to register as a sex offender.
Andrew Ray Miller, 45, of Moberly, was arrested on Thursday and posted a $40,000 bond on Friday, according to court records. A hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29.
According to the probable cause statement, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes Task Force received multiple tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on June 8. NCMEC received information from Amazon’s Photos Trust and Safety Team about multiple images containing child pornography being uploaded, the statement says.
Amazon had provided law enforcement with an email address and IP address associated with the account uploading the illicit material, the statement says. A search warrant was executed on Thursday at Miller’s residence, where he allegedly admitted to being the sole owner of the Amazon account and associated email, according to court documents.
According to the probable cause statement, Miller did not register his email address when he last registered with the state’s sex offender registry on Dec. 11.
