A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in an alleged racially motivated attack that left a street vendor injured in Glendale last month, Glendale police announced Monday.
Emanuel Gulakian of Glendale is charged with one misdemeanor count each of hate crime, assault and battery, according to Glendale police.
The charges stem from an alleged attack on vendors at about 11:45 p.m. Nov. 1 in the area of Sonora Avenue and San Fernando Road, police said.
The vendors -- who are of Hispanic heritage -- told police that Gulakian unleashed a barrage of racial slurs and profanities against them, according to police.
Gulakian then allegedly found pieces of concrete in the area and began throwing the concrete at the vendors, police said.
One of the vendors was struck and reported minor injuries, according to police.
Police said that some of the concrete pieces were as large as softballs, and that parts of the vendors' equipment were damaged.
Gulakian was arrested by Glendale police within about an hour and was freed on bond later that day, jail records show.
He is due in a Glendale courtroom Feb. 2 for arraignment on the three misdemeanor counts, according to court records.
