Ophelie Jacobson a media reporter walks around Georgetown to carry out impromtu interview to young people in the area and asked them if they are proud to be an American and is the United States the greatest country in the world. Surprisingly, majority said "NO!"
Students and other young people walking around Georgetown in the area of Washington DC really struggled wether they're proud to be an American ahead of indipendence day.
" I feel so sorry for those young students," Lily Tang Williams, an Asian-American who immigrated from China, told Fox news on Saturday in response to the video after seeing it, "They reminded me of my past living in communist China for 23 years, and I was indictrinated to believe everything the government and that Chairman Mao ( Zedong ) told me, there are millions of people who would like to switch places with." William added.
One woman Jacobson interviewed said she feels to "embarrassed to be an American everyday," when asked whether if she's proud to be an American.
"I think alot of this country are really embarrassing, just like racist theory...colonization and even currrentle with what's going on with the cops," she says in the video.
Another woman shared that same sentiment, saying that "alot of times, it is just embarrassing because the country claims to support everyone, but..we continue to support Israel, which is dislocating quite a few Palestinian people."
Another said that the U.S. economy "just cares about money" rather than the people.
None of those who were interviewed in the video would say that the "United Stated is the greatest country in the whole world," but none named other country that is better than the United States.
